Saeger Creek

Saeger Creek Preserve is a 76.1-acre property located in the Village of Lac La Belle that is valued both for its ecological importance and for the community it fosters. Originally, the Village of Lac La Belle approached Tall Pines Conservancy to place a conservation easement on the property, but it was ultimately decided to sell the property to Tall Pines in the summer of 2024. The property contains a variety of ecosystems including Saeger Creek which flows into Lac La Belle. Local residents played a key role in protecting this property and continue to show their support by attending volunteer workdays.

Volunteer Projects
Restoring the ecological integrity of the property is one of Tall Pines’ land management goals. A few ancient oak trees remain on the property, with one being upwards of 250 years old. Oaks have historically played a crucial role on the landscape of this property and the surrounding area by providing essential habitat and food for birds and insects. To accomplish this goal, volunteers are needed to help remove invasive buckthorn to give the oaks the proper space they need to flourish.
