Kieckhefer Family Farm

The Kieckhefer Farm represents TPC’s first-ever Purchase of Development Rights project.

Guy Kieckhefer's foresight and ingenuity led to the preservation of local farmland. Guy was well known as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing, and skiing here in Northwest Waukesha County. He also had a passion for land conservation and had a plan for doing just that with his family farm.

Guy was also known for thinking out of the box, sometimes well out of the box. His limitless imagination led to a multi-step plan for the transfer of development rights for this property to Tall Pines and propelled the conservancy in the new direction of cooperative purchase of development rights programs and an expanded influence in all types of land conservation.

And, his willingness to work with Tall Pines in the design of a purchase of development rights plan generated incredible financial support from the community.

“Growing up with the Kieckhefer deep respect and enjoyment of the beautiful lands, rivers, and wildlife in Wisconsin; it meant a great deal to us to partner with Tall Pines to participate in and to promote the need to preserve this heritage for the generations to come. As we learn increasingly how fundamentally man’s health is tied to nature’s health, Tall Pines is on the forefront of educating us all to do more to preserve the rich natural ecosystem of Wisconsin that we are privileged to live in.” — The Kieckhefer Family
